Skateboard Vert
Preview 2008 saw the evergreen Andy Macdonald take home the Skateboard Vert title for a second year running. The veteran skater threw down trick after trick to notch up a mammoth score of 95.00 and was the only guy amongst the Skateboard Vert finalists to hit the 90-point mark.
This year, he will come up against compatriot Neal Hendrix who could potentially dethrone the reigning champion if he puts on a near-perfect run. Renton Millar is also back to lay siege on Andy-Mac's crown after coming close to ousting the top dog from his throne by finishing third in the 2007 edition. The charismatic Adam Taylor and Nathan Beck will be seeking to be on the podium while Brazilians Marcelo Bastos and Karen Jones will add some samba flavor to the mix. German skater Juergen Horrwath and Danish, Jussi Korhonen will give Europe a much needed presence while the Land of the Rising Sun carries the largest pack of Asian skaters with Seiya Sano, Gen Ogawa and Moto Shibata hoping to prove that Asia is ready to produce a potential X-Games winner in this event.
Look out for one boy in particular, Arina Abdul Rahman from Malaysia who will be the sole contestant from South-East Asia.
So the boys are back and the stage is set. Will Andy Mac do the impossible and make it three in a row? Or will the young Stafford go one better and claim gold this time out? Come down to KIA X Games Asia 2009 at the KIC Jiangwan Sports Center from 30 Apr to 3 May to find out!
